In February 2025, CHN Energy achieved significant progress in several flagship projects spanning wind power, PV, hydropower, energy storage and coal-to-chemicals, underscoring its integrated approach to smart energy development.
On February 25, the second phase of the Lingbi Wind Farm project under CHN Energy Anhui Branch reached 50% grid-connection progress. With a total installed capacity of 100 MW, the project is expected to deliver 204 million kWh of clean electricity annually upon full commissioning by May 31.
Longyuan Power Group’s 500 MW Mangya Wind Farm in Qinghai Province surpassed 50% turbine installation on February 26. Slated for full operation in H1 2024, it will generate approximately 1.238 billion kWh yearly, accelerating energy transition in Haixi Prefecture.
GD Power’s Mengxi Blue Ocean PV Power Station in Inner Mongolia began commercial operations on February 19, transmitting power to Shandong. As China’s largest PV base built on coal-mining subsidence areas, it will produce over 5 billion kWh annually—enough to power 2 million households.
Construction commenced on February 23 for the 330 kV booster station in Phase II of the Tengger Desert New Energy Base in Ningxia. The 2 GW project, expected to yield 3.851 billion kWh yearly, will also rehabilitate 60,000 mu (4,000 hectares) of desertified land.
At the 2.4 GW Xulong Hydropower Station on the Jinsha River’s upper reaches, left bank excavation reached 2,280 meters in elevation on February 26. Upon completion, it will generate 10.5 billion kWh annually.
The Shuangjiangkou Hydropower Station on the Dadu River surpassed 31 million cubic meters in dam filling on February 24. The 2 GW facility will produce 7.7 billion kWh yearly once operational.
CHN Energy Anhui Branch’s molten salt thermal storage project at Suzhou Power Plant entered the water injection testing phase on February 26. It will boost renewable energy storage by 350 MWh post-commissioning.
The stator of Unit 3’s turbine generator was installed at Guangdong Qingyuan Power Plant’s Phase II on February 24. The phase will supply 10 billion kWh of clean electricity annually.
Zhejiang Branch’s Unit 8 rotor installation at Beilun Power Plant’s energy-saving upgrade was completed on February 25, with dual-unit operation targeted for 2025.
Huanghua Harbour Administration advanced its 80,000-ton oil terminal, achieving 70% structural completion by February 26. The terminal will enhance liquid bulk cargo handling capacity.
On February 8, Baotou Coal-to-olefins Upgrade Project entered construction, aiming to expand methanol and polyolefin annual capacities to 3.8 million tons and 1.35 million tons respectively.
